It's a GIRL!!

It's a GIRL!! Camdyn Hazel Currie is here!! She was born May 8 at 5:20am, weighing in at 6 lbs 15oz and 19 in long.

Here is our birth story:
As you know I was scheduled to be induced at 7am on May 8th, well I woke up at 1am to go pee. I got back in bed and was laying there and thought 'gosh my underwear is a little wet', did my water break or did I just pee or what?! I got up and sat on the toilet and then finally after about 10 minutes I started dripping....so I got dressed and woke Brent up. He was very confused since it was so early and when I told him my water broke he said "seriously? you're joking right?". By the time we got in the car I was having contractions every 5 minutes. We made it to the hospital at 2:15am, they were VERY busy and moving slow, I didn't get checked til 3am and I was 5cm dilated. I started having intense contractions closer together and she checked me 15 min later and I was 7cm!! I still didn't have an IV or anything and I was asking for an epi (which took awhile). I had to wait for my dr to get there (he was actually on call, I was so happy!) and I started to push at 5am. I pushed for 20 minutes and heard the words 'It's a GIRL', I was SO THRILLED!! Brent was of course crying, just like the last time. That should have been my first clue what a softie his girls make him!

We are home from the hospital and we are doing well, just trying to get settled in and catching up on our sleep! Camdyn is breastfeeding like a champ (way better than Brynn did), and Brynn is being a loving big sister.

Thanks for all your well wishes and thoughts!!

Fun in the Sun

We spend a lot of time outdoors and in this Texas heat we decided Brynn needed her own pool. There is a pool in the backyard at my Mom's, but the little pool will be nice when she wants to get in and I won't have to! We did sign her up for swim lessons starting in June, hopefully those go over well!

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

This baby's time is running out! I went to my dr appt today and I am 90% effaced and 3cm dilated. He said baby's head is really low and engaged and ready for birth. Sooooo whenever that will be!! He offered to induce me next week, since I am no dummy I took him up on it!! So I am giving this baby one more week to come out on it's own, otherwise I am taking it out by force! We scheduled the induction for Thursday May 8th. I was induced with Brynn and had a very pleasant experience, so hopefully everything goes just as smoothly. It is just so nice to know it will be happening soon. And as I am such the planner it is nice to be able to make some plans for Brynn and Brent. Since he doesn't have the luxury of an off-season like last time, he can plan on missing two days of school and then returning back to the academy the following Monday. And Dr. Hedges also told me he is leaving town starting May 11th and will be gone a whole week! He needs to be delivering my baby, not on vacation. Of course now that all these plans are made, the little one might just surprise us and come before.....but there is an end in sight! I am anxious to meet our son or daughter!

Here are some pictures of sisterly love:

Pucker up!

Awwww she looks so SWEET now.....let's see what she does when she actually sees the baby!!

Pink or Blue??

The results are in!! The final majority vote for the gender of this baby was: BOY. We shall see who is right and who is wrong very soon. We can't wait to find out!

And here is the most recent belly pic at 37+ weeks.

Kiddie Park

Kirby and Asher came into town to visit and we had lots of fun together. We took the kids to Kiddie Park, which is an amuesment park that we use to go to when we were little! Founded in 1925, it is the oldest and original children's amusement park in America. Yes it is old and looks a little run down, but we had a lot of fun and that's all that matters!! You all know how shy and reserved Brynn can be, but she didn't mind riding the rides by herself. I was very proud of Brynn for not being scared! The first ride she rode on she kinda whined at first but once it started moving she liked it. Her favorite rides were the airplanes and boats. Asher's favorite were the cars and airplanes. Kirby and I were only allowed to go on the carousel and helicopters with them, but that's okay because they both made me dizzy, especially the helicopters!!

The car ride was the first ride they went on.

Riding the horse, saying Yee-Haw!

They both liked the boat ride, although Asher kept standing up so his ride was cut short. They both leaned over and touched the water, but Asher was the one who then stuck his fingers in his mouth! The water probably hasn't been changed/cleaned since the park first opened in 1925--yummy!!

The airplane ride was a favorite, breezy and nice and quiet.

We had lots of fun at Kiddie Park!

34 weeks and counting!

Here is an update on baby #2: I had my doctor appointment and another ultrasound today to check the growth of the baby since I am measuring small and not gaining weight. Everything looks good and the baby is gaining weight and is about 4 lbs 12 oz. He/She has gained 2 lbs since my last ultrasound 6 weeks ago. I am still staying the same at 15 pounds total gained, but my doctor said he is not worried as long as the baby is growing. The baby's head is oh so low (which explains the constant peeing), so he said that could be why I am measuring small and because I am tall. He also gave me the go ahead to return to running--yay! Although after taking a few weeks off we'll see if that really happens! It was so amazing to get another peek at our little one!! He/She's legs were firmly closed so no surprises were revealed today. I could see some hair and it looks like he/she has a very nice set of lips on them! Oh and I was also told that the head is nice and round, which is what they said about Brynn too. So I am interested to meet this little one and see what they look like. Not too much longer!!

Recent Pictures

Hamming it up for the camera.

A recent picture of the Curries:

Brynn with her cousins on Easter Sunday. It is very hard to take a good picture of all of them! Those apples are good props to keep them still...but don't expect everyone to smile at the same time!

Does anyone see what is new in this picture?

I went back to my roots with my hair, darker and shorter. I was growing it out, but am just too impatient!

We recently went to college station and stayed with Kirby, Charlie, and Asher. Brynn and Asher had a lot of fun playing together.

I love this picture! It is too funny!

And by popular demand here are some recent belly shots:

As for Baby #2 update, we are getting closer with 7 more weeks to go. I am definitely getting to the point where I want to be done being pregnant! We go for another ultrasound next week to check his/her growth. I measured a little small at my last appointment so the Dr wants to take a look....but I think he/she is growing just fine!!

Big, wet, slobbery kisses to you all!

Easter Egg Hunt

The easter activities this year were more fun for Brynn than last year. NO we did not go see the easter bunny this year! I thought about it, but then I had a flashback of last year.............

Grandpa Harry thinks these pictures are funny and likes to laugh at them, obviously Brynn does not agree!

So needless to say we skipped the easter bunny this year and just stuck with the fun things!

Brynn really enjoyed hunting for easter eggs. Once she got the hang of it she was really good. She went for more of the 'hidden' eggs versus the ones just laying on the ground. Check out the video of our little egg hunter!

If you can't view the video try clicking on this link Click here. I am trying to figure out why no one else but me can view it! Sorry!
Stay tuned, more recent pictures to follow!

Feeding the Dolphins

Today Brent had a day off so we took Brynn to Sea World this morning. She enjoyed all the animals, and we even got to feed the dolphins! She wasn't too sure about them at first but then she wanted to keep on feeding them. Notice she says no she doesn't want to feed them, then she is asking for more fish two seconds later. Maybe next time she will be brave enough to touch them....yeah right!

Brynn's favorite things

Here are two new videos of Brynn's favorite things to do. She loves to be outside, even just walking up and down the driveway. She loves the slide, trampoline, sandbox, swing, wagon, and car....she even loves sit down in the dirt and play with it! She always asks "What's that?" about everything! She is a lot of fun but definitely has a sassy little attitude (wonder where she gets that from?)! I have no doubt she will be a great big sister, probably teaching her sibling a lot of things (good and bad)! The first video is of her playing in the sandbox and tasting it too!

This video is of her jumping on the trampoline.
WARNING: you may get a little motion sickness viewing it, so view at your own risk!

P.S. If you can't view the videos, I don't know what the problem is....try again later!

Baby #2 Update

Here is a recent belly shot taken at 28 weeks. I had another ultrasound at my last appointment and everything thing looks good. Praise God! The baby is currently weighing in at 2lbs 11oz, which she said was average. And this baby is not going to be bald like daddy because we could already see some hair! The baby was so low in my pelvis, we had a hard time getting a good profile picture. Much to my mom's disappointment I didn't ask to find out the sex (she bet me $100 I would ask)! I told her I have waited this long, what is 11 more weeks. So baby #2 is still a surprise and so is the name!! We have (kind of) started to narrow down our favorite name list but neither one of us is trying too hard. I just can't seem to narrow it down to one without knowing the sex. I mean why bother arguing and thinking about a boy name if it is not a boy (or girl)?! It is just way too overwhelming. So the gender of the baby and the name will probably both be a surprise until birth.

According to the boy/girl pattern we have going on in my family (among us sisters), it is my turn to have a boy. For those that don't know, we have a boy/girl pattern starting with Reid, Brynn, Asher, Stella, and then this baby and Kirby just found out she is having a GIRL! so she is following the pattern.....so am I going to follow the pattern or break it? To check out Kirby's non-existent belly go to her blog (Apels). I thought we were suppose to be preggo together, but she does not look like it at ALL!! Kyle was excited to be the only skinny sister for awhile but Kirb is not letting her have all the glory on her own! I am patiently waiting for Kirby to join the Fat Club with me, I told her it was lonely over here.

Otherwise I am feeling pretty good. I am still running, although my pace has slowed down and just recently I have been slowing down on the mileage. I use to run 3 miles but now I run between 2-3 miles depending on how I am feeling, I just get short of breath so easily now! So instead of running 3 miles three times a week I think I will run 2 miles four or five times a week. I have been experiencing a little indigestion which I did not experience with Brynn. I have randomly had a little reflux and just yesterday I experienced heart burn for the first time in my life!! Oh the pain!! Oh and the leg cramps at night have started in the last week too. Woo Hoo! Oh the joys of the third trimester!!

24 Down, 16 to go!!

Well as you can see I have really grown over the last 5 weeks!! I had my first appointment with the OB here and everything looks good. Heartbeat 136 (so that means a boy according to the wives tale right?) and measuring 24 cm. Eleven pounds gained total, not in one month as my mom thought when I first told her!! Thanks Mom! Although I have to say I can never get enough of all the yummy Mexican food. I think everyone is tired of going out to eat with me because that is what I always want......but you would want it all the time too if you were sequestered up North without any around you for miles and miles! I have another ultrasound and the glucose testing next month. This little peanut is moving around so much. It is just the most amazing thing if you think about it. God is so great! Who else could create something so miraculous?

So far Brynn is being a great big sister!! Since we did not want to confuse her too much we have just starting telling her about the baby in mommy's belly. Plus 16 more weeks is already a lifetime to her I am sure, 40 weeks would be way too long! If I ask her where mommy's baby is she lifts up my shirt and points right at my belly button and loves to give it kisses.

There is one thing we need to do and that is to decide on some names! Brent and I really have a hard time agreeing on this subject. I find it VERY overwhelming! Plus since we are not finding out the gender this time we have to agree on not one but two names! YIKES!! I hope we find one we like over the next 16 weeks or we'll be arguing about it in L&D!

A New Year

A new year has just begun and already it has brought a lot of changes for the Currie family! We have successfully moved from Alberta Canada back to Texas. We are very excited and have been patiently waiting to return. We will be house hunting soon and purchasing our first home this year. We are fortunate enough to be able to stay in my mom's guesthouse until we find a house of our own. It is nice to not have to rush into anything. I know she is happy to have us here....at least for now, ask her again in a few months!

A big change for Brent as he is headed back to school for 6 months!! He is starting the fire academy on January 22nd. He is very excited and thrilled to start a new career. It will be very demanding but I think he will love it. He will graduate in the beginning of July.

Brynn is doing great! She is enjoying the weather and loves to go outside. I think she would spend every waking hour outdoors if I let her. She has such a cute personality and is the biggest daddy's girl EVER!! She still loves to sing and dance. She is talking more, her favorite words are hi and uh oh. She says hi all the time, especially when she is getting into something she knows she is not suppose to!! What a stinker.

This pregnancy is going by very fast and easy. I go and see my new doctor next week. I see the vote is pretty close but so far the winner is boy....I guess we will find out in about 17 weeks. If I had to guess I would say this one is going to be a girl too. So far I feel the same and am carrying pretty much the same as I did with Brynn, of course I have no experience with a boy so who knows! I don't think Brynn understands how much her world is going to change very soon!!

The true meaning of CHRISTmas

Dear loved ones,
As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.

It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.

I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts. But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation. The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face .... And I wanted to be with them and share their table.

In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me. Since I wasn't invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner. They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything. They were having a grand time. To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying: 'Santa Claus, Santa Claus' .. as if the party were in his honor!

At 12 Midnight all the people began to hug each other; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug me and ... do you know ... no one hugged me. Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me. What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one? I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left.

Every year it gets worse. People only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties and nobody remembers me. I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you. Today, I only want that you believe this with all your heart.

I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party.
I'm still making the final arrangements. Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you. I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book. Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party. Those who don't answer the invite, will be left outside. Be prepared because when all is ready you will be part of my great party.

See you soon.
I Love you!
Jesus

It's A....................

SURPRISE!! We stayed strong and did not beg to know the gender of baby#2 during the ultrasound. I am really surprised at myself for waiting, but I think it will be an awesome surprise in the end that I would like to experience at least once! So all of you can have fun guessing and see who is right and wrong. WARNING: As you are guessing and making comments about how I am carrying the baby you better be nice! (You know who you are). These pregnancy hormones are crazy so you never know what will happen if you say something rude.

Looks pretty cramped in there doesn't it?! Everything looks good and it was so amazing to get to see our baby for the first time. I can't believe I am almost half way there, it has gone by so much faster this time around. Brent and Brynn came in the room after the tech was done with all the measuring. As I was laying there Brynn was leaning on my side and kept giving me kisses like she thought I was hurt or something. So cute! She will be a good big sister (hoping and praying).

Here are some recent belly shots at 19 weeks. It is definitely growing and looks much bigger from my view when looking down. I am in that awkward stage that I hate! In between maternity and my normal clothes. I can still wear about 2 pairs of normal jeans. So far I feel like I am carrying exactly like I did with Brynn (just started showing a little earlier)!

HO, HO, NO!

Let me tell you about our trip to go see Santa: I of course knew my daughter would not be fond of him, but we were going to give it a try anyways! I tried to prepare her by talking about him and pointing out Santa on her PJ's. I would ask her do you want to go see Santa? Santa! she replied (not that clear of course!), in a high pitched excited voice as she shook her head yes she wanted to see him. Off to the mall we go. The lady taking the pictures said "Just face her towards you (away from Santa), then you can put her down on Santa's lap and we will snap a picture really quick." Brynn has already spotted him of course and is clinging to my neck. Hmmmmm I think to myself you do not know my daughter, but here goes.....as soon as I was pulling her away from me she starts to whimper, then as her bum hits Santa's knee she is screaming the most ear shattering scream ever to come out of her mouth with tears and all! Of course everyone in the mall turns and stares and wonders what is happening to that poor little girl! She is hysterical so I pick her up and she glues herself to me. It takes her a few minutes to settle down. So we finally get a picture with Santa....................

My goal next year is to NOT be in the picture!!

We also went to the Christmas parade, although we watched it from inside the library because it was -17 F outside. Since Brynn doesn't care that much at this age we decided not to freeze. Santa also came to the library and so did Bailey the bison!

Here is Brynn sitting in Santa's chair, minus Santa himself! She was fascinated with the button on it, not wanting to smile let alone look up!

Dashing through the snow.......

So if you don't know this already about my husband he is very cheap. He doesn't throw old things out, he will keep everything, and thinks that duct tape is the best thing ever!! So after not being able to find a cheap sled for Brynn he 'made' one for her out of a storage tub and hockey tape for the pull string.

She enjoyed the ride and looked very cozy in her homemade sled!

She still is not a big fan of walking in the snow....not that I blame her!! She loves to wear her snow boots, not outside in the snow but inside. Those snow boots get a lot of use in our house!
